Goshtarang Fellowship 2018-19

GoshtaRang Fellowship in Children’s Theatre 2018-2019

About Goshtarang

Goshtarang project is part of QUEST’s ‘reading writing enhancement program’, which introduces books and authors to students in rural and tribal areas, using theatrical performances based on story books.

Since 2016, Theatre Facilitators trained by theatre experts have performed several shows of stories in Marathi, for Elementary School Children in tribal areas in Palghar and Municipal Schools in Pune. They also conducted activities based on the story books so that the children didn’t just see the performance but also participated and understood the story. Students as well as teachers in all the schools enjoyed the performances and the theatre activities based on the stories. After every performance, children were drawn to the written word and started demanding specific story books!

Goshtarang Fellowship 2018-19

We started ‘Goshtarang Fellowship’ in 2017-18. Based on the heartening response received last year, we are happy to announce the next round of Fellowship this year as well. This fellowship is open for young persons trained in theatre. Selected candidates will get a chance to work in rural and tribal areas, where there is a scarcity of such activities. For 2018-19, we will enrol 5 fellows. They will be trained in a residential workshop by a theatre expert. Well known theatre experts such as Chinmay Kelkar and Vidyanidhi Vanarase have been associated with Goshtarang as trainers.

The Fellows will have to stay in a rural setting, work as a team and manage their performances in schools. We will provide a stipend, which would be sufficient to take care of their basic needs and allow them to concentrate on learning and understanding without worrying about financial responsibilities.
